Your base to explore the stunning Cotswolds

Perfectly situated, The Fox makes for a wonderful base to explore the Cotswolds, never more than 20 minutes from all the main attractions.

“Having lived in the Cotswolds for 40 years, I am truly biased, but for me the Cotswolds is the perfect holiday destination with so much to see and do whether you are a couple after a quiet break or a family looking to explore.” - Paul Porter, Landlord

Although arriving in the Cotswolds is never a chore, it is made all the more special when you drive down through the village to see the Fox nestled by the Windrush river. In winter, when the Cotswolds are less busy, the view across the river Windrush to the ancient meadow is very atmospheric and makes a winter short break that much more special.

At any time of year the Cotswolds is a wonderfully charming area, with an authentic English country feel. Enjoy local fetes, festivals, museums over the summer months. Particular highlights are visiting Burford, Bourton on the Water, National Trust Snowshill, Broadway or the Slaughters.

The seasons are unique in the Cotswolds . A spring stay has to take in the beautiful Snowdrop’s either at Batsford arboretum or South Cerney with a detour to visit Bibury. Try the market town of Chipping Campden; the Cotswolds at its prettiest with the campden literary festival running in May, closely followed by the world renowned Music festival the following week.

Summer and our fantastic position on the Windrush river offers great days out. We can point you in the direction of beautiful riverside walks and and arrange cycle hire.

An Autumn stay might include a visit to the beautiful Batsford Arboretum and then on to lunch at Moreton in Marsh or Stow on the World.

“My first visit to The Fox and it was brilliant - the pub couldn’t have been in a better location, Paul’s insider knowledge and itinerary was well chosen and very interesting - a knowledgeable and friendly host.” - Mrs B
